I like beer. It features quite often on this website, even though it’s supposed to be about curry. And I must tell you about Favorito, this is the best lager to drink with a curry I have had in a very long time. See my last post on Bang Curry kits as an example.
I am a fan of its brewers, Thornbridge, and received my first sample through their monthly beer club to which I subscribe (and pay for). Their description is far more eloquent than mine so I quote from their website:
We wanted to brew the ultimate summer beer and decided a light Mexican lager would be perfect, brewed with flaked maize for that extra crispy edge. We added a generous addition of lime to help it reach a new level of zestiness and then enhanced it even further with a touch of Himalayan sea salt to create a total taste adventure!
Now I realise some of this is marketing twoddle but I would agree it’s an excellent summer beer, light and crisp with a definite lime flavour. I don’t get much of the salt but their description should add, “bloody lovely with a curry” because it really is.
Generally I prefer a beer to be not too gassy when I’m eating and this alongside another beer I tried recently both tick this box very nicely. Also it’s been perfect for post “garden digging” weekends where I’ve been shifting tons of turf / patios and gravel around. Refreshing my knackered bones perfectly.
Their website suggests Tacos de Carnitas as the food pairing but forget that and just have one with your next bhuna, you’ll be glad you did.
