A highly popular Indian dish among the Parsi Zoroastrian community where it is custom to eat dhansak on a sunday due to its long preparation time. Much like the korma, this is a good one for those who don’t like the hotter curries.
Dhansak is made of cumin seeds, ginger, garlic and a mix of spices. British variations of the recipe often include pineapple to add sweetness to the dish. The traditional Indian version contains the more subtle flavours of pumpkin, squash or gourd.
